Fuck!! I don't get it. Why not just ride a BMX bike. The shit they were doing was BMX shit, just alot slower and not as good. I am all for ground tricks, but bowls and ramps and that, just ride a B.M.fuckingX.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone... Your argument is so convoluted. Why take anything out of it's context?

Because a track bike presents new obstacles when taken out of the context of a velodrome. By your logic, why ride a track bike on the streets to begin with? Re-appropriation is the catalyst for new sports. Let it happen. Go ride and try not to think about it so much!

Also, this shit has JUST started. Tom and Tony are the only two people I've seen do smooth roll-outs and fakies.

... as Tom put it. "I'm sure all the kids riding stingrays at dirt jumps back in the 60's and 70's caught hell from people too... but that was the precursor for BMX bikes. Now track bikes have multiple uses and it's getting people on a bike again."

Yeah, that argument is kinda played. I see what you are saying. I just don't think that the payoffs are equivalent to the obstacles that are being overcome. What I am trying to say is that overcoming these obstacles just for the sake of overcoming them doesn't make it cooler or a separate sport or anything like that. You can take any sport and add obstacles, it doesn't make the sport a new one or a cooler one.

Now that I have said that, don't get me wrong. I think it's rad that you guys are finding new and interesting ways to use a track bike, or any bike for that matter. But I think I'll just stick to the streets.

ps..I hope you don't take offense to my lack of interest or excitement on this subject.

I'm in no way offended man. I understand you completely. We're not doing this to be "cooler" and I'm sorry if you perceive it that way!

We're not riding to "overcome" obstacles. We're riding to ride. Where we ride presents itself with new opportunities to do fun shit.

As I said, ride your bike and try to not think about it so much.

Bike kids take themselves too seriously...

i think people just feel threatened because what you guys are doing is elevating the sport and they'll have to play catchup. why stand in one place when you can move forward- that's what life is about.

I totally feel threatened. I have an acute fear of being metaphorically left behind. I guess it all started as a child. I was born at sea, you know. On a life raft really....this is stupid. Forgive me.

Dude. Don't apologize. Honestly, as long as you're riding and having fun it doesnt matter to me!

Glad you've at least presented a proper opinion and not just some bitter bike kid ignorance!

Seriously though, no hurt feelings here. I already attract enough hate and shit. It's part of being into this kind of stuff!

Ride safely bro.

I really don't think this video does justice to how well we can ride this park. I mean I've seen a lot of kids on BMX bikes have trouble riding some of stuff we ride at FDR. Granted we aren't blasting tricks but flowing through the park is exhilarating in and of itself.

I don't really think we are trying to do anything beyond push ourselves and have a good time. I mean without doing this shit I would've had the oppurtunity to have 4 awesome people roll down to Philly just to ride bikes. Then getting to go to NYC the weekend to ride their turf. None of us want to come off as cocky. With all the stuff we have been doing Bootleg Sessions, Slow Sundays, Peel Sessions, etc. we just want to show some people how we fun in a new way on a bike.

I love how comment threads always find a way to become threads of confusion.

John, Apology was to 'sinceagain'. Aaaaannnnd, I don't even think I can be considered a bike kid. I mean my friends all think I'm one, but thats cause they don't ride. But as for bike kids (I always seem to type diks instead of kids, and fart instead of raft and lots of other slips) I don't think they would consider me one...I just like to ride my bike, act stupid, and have a blast...mostly at my own expense. Bike kids in San Francisco all have some shit eater, elitist attitude. Totally not down with it.

Tony, I heard that. I just don't see it. I wasn't trying to clown anyone or put shit down. Like I said, I just don't see it. Banks and the like, that shit sounds like fun, but bowls and stuff...I don't know. What ever you are doing that makes you smile while you ride then keep that shit up.
