Planet Earth R.I.P.

If the Earth implodes tonight at 3am, it was nice knowing you guys. So some mad scientists have tried to emulate the big bang with a machine known as the Hadron Collider. I'm not too sure how the Collider works, but some scientists fear that it will create a mini Black Hole. Otto Rössler of the University of Tübingen is suing CERN, the company who is testing the Collider, with the European Court of Human Rights. Otto says such a catastrophy would violate the right to life of European citizens and pose a threat to the rule of law. Sounds a lot like the Event Horizon. This isn't the first time Sci-fi flicks have predicted the future of technology and given our current scenario, this may be the last! Dr. Weirr, where are you!?!?

Who's suing on part of the citizens of the U.S. and other nations? I mean, if shit goes down, we're all equally fucked. Snooty Euros...

On a side note, Otto Rössler is a fucking moron. He's a goddamn biochemist, challenging the assurances of a collection of the smartest people currently alive who happen to actually be physicists. Nothing like sticking a stick in the spokes of science for a little self-aggrandizing attention. Fuck you Otto.

Fuck that, I'm still waiting for my hover board.

haha my sentiments exactly. ottos a moron. i for one am excited at the prospects of uncovering new kinds of physics via the LHC. they wont attempt to collide the photons at full speed until after winter, though. also, anyone ever read "Angels and Demons"? CERN and the LHC are the foundation of the plot.

The fucking probability that we get sucked in by a black hole created by the LHC is as likely as Jesus and his crew (12 disciples) coming out with a video of them shredding through the streets of Israel with Aerospoked fixies doing every trick in the book and then some!

How many subatomic collisions does the fucking sun go through in a second? Ever heard of the northern lights? What are they? Collisions of particles from the sun on earth's atmosphere! Has that created a single black hole that has sucked us all into it? I'm gonna say no.

The point of the LHC or similar particle accelerators is to replicate what already goes on in nature since the type of collisions we want to examine are impossible to predict!

Sorry for my rant.

[As long as it wasn't directed at me, I don't mind at all]

Oh well not to worry since it definitely was not!
