Undercover Cops at Critical Mass?
Another reason why I don't ride in Critical Mass; case in point, undercover police. Guys in this picture... Look closely. Two men in plain clothes right? Both have the same bike with the same chain lock wrapped around their seat posts, talking to a guy without a bike. Notice the man texting with his palm pilot. Ok, so this may seem a bit paranoid, but those bikes are the same issue as Police bikes that the NYPD rides and they were talking to their supervisor. These pics along with the information came from a CM rider who overheard the pigs discussing strategery.
Sneaky basts.
Aren't people getting mugged and killed in this city? Is that the best you can do? Fucking lame. Nice to see where all our tax dollars are going.
More coverage on the pig's attack on the cyclist can be found... way to go Officer Patrick Pogan. Not even 23 years old..

Milwaukee Pologuard
Milwaukee has done it again! A 110 bcd polo guard for the Sugino XD cranks! The guard has an integrated 35t chainring and is geared towards polo bikes. Looks like a beautifully-machined product. I would expect nothing less from Milwaukee!
Mishka Custom Shop Now Open!

The Demise of British Components
I just picked up a new wheelset for my 1950's Higgins and I've been doing some research on the history of Resilion hubs. After a few websites, I came across this article on Classic Lightweights focusing on the demise of British components. If you're into vintage British steeds, this is worth the read.
Post Rotterdam
UNStudio has released images of their competition-winning revamp of a Rotterdam post office!
The design for the redevelopment of Post Rotterdam incorporates an ambitious mixed-use concept devised to respond to and enhance the original qualities of the existing building. Upscale retail facilities, restaurants, cafés and bars are combined with a luxury hotel, which in addition houses conference facilities and offices. The design incorporates an urban landscape, a vertical foyer, the redesign of the large central hall and a new hotel. These combined elements form a design approach which is sensitive to the monument's existing qualities, while generating a synergetic architectural effect. The programmatic and infrastructural elements create a sustainable development which incorporates a 'green shopping' experience and aims to provide a new urban destination for the city centre of Rotterdam.

Why NYC will never be a cycling-friendly city
Because the NYPD is full of fucking pigs.
If one of those assholes did that to me, I'd sue the shit out of him.
Update: More information! Thanks Jed!

Tag, I'm It
After a trip back to NC, I come back to find I've been tagged by Trackosaurus...
The Bicycle Blogger Chain Letter...
If you could have any one-and only one- bike in the world, what would it be.
Reynolds 531 track bike with a derailleur hanger.
Do you already have that coveted dream bike? If so, is it everything you hoped it would be? If not, are you working toward getting it? If you're not working toward getting it, why not?
I have a beautiful Merckx that a friend sold to me for the price of an IRO or a Surly frameset. It's a great bike and fits me perfectly. That with my Surly and my Hollands roadie, I'm set for a bit.
If you had to choose one — and only one — bike route to do every day for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why?
Well, I'm assuming it has to be in the city where I currently reside. I would ditch my current route all together because it's too stressful. Honestly, I love riding the West Side Bike Path up to Harlem in the early morning or colder months. Anytime when the seasonal cyclists are at home. That or maybe the ride to Ft. Tilden...
What kind of sick person would force another person to ride one and only one bike ride to to do for the rest of her / his life?
The author of this bike-blogger chain letter...
Do you ride both road and mountain bikes? If both, which do you prefer and why? If only one or the other, why are you so narrowminded?
I rode mountain bikes when I lived in North Cak and I also rode road bikes. I'd prefer a road bike because it's a more efficient mode of transportation. We've all seen people riding downhill and mountain bikes up bridges and down the streets of our City. Shit's not fun...
Have you ever ridden a recumbent? If so, why? If not, describe the circumstances under which you would ride a recumbent.
Yes, a friend had one.
Have you ever raced a triathlon? If so, have you also ever tried strangling yourself with dental floss?
I'd rather be doing tricks. At this point in my life, just riding my bike with friends is enough fun. I don't need to train for anything to feel a sense of accomplishment.
Suppose you were forced to either give up ice cream or bicycles for the rest of your life. Which would you give up, and why?
Ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant anyway.
What is a question you think this questionnaire should have asked, but has not? Also, answer it.
Do you dope?
No.
You’re riding your bike in the wilderness (if you’re a roadie, you’re on a road, but otherwise the surroundings are quite wilderness-like) and you see a bear. The bear sees you. What do you do?
Yell "He's coming right for us" and open fire.

R.I.P. K-Swift
Baltmore DJ K-Swift (a.k.a. Khia Edgerton) died this morning due to a swimming pool accident in her hometown of Baltimore, MD, it has been reported.
The 28-year-old artist, who has often been considered the Queen of the Baltimore club scene, rose to prominence as Female Mix Show Coordinator on Baltimore's 92Q Jams radio station. She was also a member of the Violator-All Star DJ Coalition and a member of the female group Murda Mamis.
Growing up in Baltimore, I'm very familiar with K-Swift, having tuned in to her live club sets on the radio every week, jammin in my car like noone was watching. With the popularity of Baltimore Club spreading like wildfire recently, K-Swift has gone from a hometown name to a globally recognized artist. She will forever be the club queen of Baltimore.
Back to NC
So Amanda, Pixel, our bikes and I are heading back to NC this week. We were planning on leaving Wednesday, but after a family emergency, we'll be leaving today.
I may post a few snippets while I'm there, but for the most part, we'll be busy.

Milwaukee Stout is in Stock!
A few weeks ago, Milwaukee Cycles sent me a prototype 130 bcd chainring guard. Well, it's IN STOCK now! For $60... great price for solid 7075 Aluminum! I've been destroying mine for a bit now and it's still holding up quite well.
Gene Spicer Knows What's Up
A while back, I was talking to Gene at Spicer Cycles to build me a "fixed gear freestyle" frame. I wanted 4130, thick tubing, gussets and the downtube to come up on the headtube so I could barspin a 700c wheel. Well, someone took the initiative to build it! This image came from the Bootleg Sessions website. Thanks Burd!

Priest
So my buddy Jack Crank lent me his Cinelli Priest Bars for a bit. The back story behind them is that when Ernesto Colnago made the Pope a bike, he requested that they supply him with a less aggressive handlebar. Colnago contacted Cinelli and they fabricated this bar for him. I have to say, Pope John Paul II had the right idea.

You're So Vain
Italians do it better. That's so true when it comes to interiors and furnishings. "The Other" is a collection of limited-edition mirrored furniture designed by Studioilse for Baleri Italia. Each piece features an exlusive color and decoration. In my dream world, I'd pick up the phone and custom order one of each.
