R.I.P. Sheldon Brown

It's a sad sad day for cyclists. Sheldon Brown's wife Harriet sent out an email last night saying he had died from a massive heart attack. More information to follow... Edit: Official notice up on Harris Cyclery now.

Oh shit.

Have a good rebirth, my friend.

...it wasn't so much the man's knowledge but the fact that he was so giving of it...

...such a good spirit...

Out of respect for Sheldon, we must all promise to never debate about whether or not to grease the spindle.

It's a sad, sad day. Very depressing. This man influenced the cycling world as a whole.

I'm fairly new to cycling (just bought my first road bike last year after 20 years out of the saddle from when I was a "kid") but one of the first sites I found when I got back into riding was one of Sheldon's... can't even remember what it was about now...

So sad... I really have no opinion of the quality of the information he shared but it was obvious that he honestly cared about and was passionate for the cycling community.

We need more like him...

God speed Sheldon.

Fuck! I would rather have my favorite bike stolen than hear this. Ride easy, Sheldon.

In August of 2007 I got back into riding. Since then I have bought two vintage Raleighs that I LOVE riding - all because of Sheldon. My heart hurts to know that such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person is gone. I was planning on visiting Harris Cylcery this summer while in MA - just in hopes of meeting him, and saying thank you. I am thinking of his family and friends.

Thank you Sheldon.
