Beijing
Chris Bosse has posted some photos of the National Aquatics Centre in Beijing. Watercube, as the building has been dubbed opened on Monday. Designed by PTW Architects of OZ, the building mimics the cellular structure of some unknown organism. Because the skin is self-supportive, the spans can go the length of the center unsupported. Biomimicry at it's best!
Along with Herzog and De Meuron's "Birds Nest" [pictured], this building is hosting the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in August.
