Schwipe- The Original Party Animal

One of my favorite labels, Melbourne-based Schwipe, have a new collection out in stores with some fun prints and layering pieces.

After the Reality 2

For you New York art enthusiasts, head down to Deitch Projects in Soho tomorrow night from 7-9 to catch live performances from Enlightenment and Ujino Muneteru, as well as a dj set by Patrick Rood. The exhibit comprises work from new Japanese artists that share an interest in addressing the way culture has changed since 9/11. With the exception of the art collective Enlightenment, they are all showing in NYC for the first time. More info here.

Busy Busy Busy

I've been so slammed recently with work and Amanda just got back from her 6 week stay in Stockholm. Sorry for the lack of posts. I would however like to introduce her to the Blog as an official poster. She'll be keeping everyone updated on parties, openings and other strange internet phenomena.

Nossa Spring Sale!

NYC's own Nossa has launched a HUGE spring sale on their webstore. I'm not talking 15% off or anything... $17 shirts! Here's my pick.

Marinoni x Adidas Auction

A while back I posted a custom Marinoni that Breadwinner worked on with Adidas. Well now that bike is up for auction on eBay. All proceeds go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. More below. August 1, 2007 marked Adidas Original’s introduction to Montreal. To celebrate this, Marinoni - one of North America’s most heralded bicycle builders - was asked to create a custom bike that captured the essence of Adidas’s rich heritage and history in sports. Working with designers from Breadwinner Creative, Marinoni dreamt up this beautiful, one-of-a-kind track bike full of go-fast goodies that ooze style. This is the only bike of its kind worldwide. Being deeply involved in athletics, community and charity, both Marinoni and adidas agreed to auction the bike off for a good cause. All proceeds of the winning bid, will be donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. MS affects many Canadians especially young adults and every day, three more people are diagnosed with this disease. Marinoni and adidas are committed in supporting the on-going research needed to better understand and combat MS which affects young adults worldwide.

Fixed Gears Illegal in NYC

picture from the NYPD stealing bikes in the East Village last Fall I just got pulled by a cop on Delancey, who took my bike and put it in the back of a van. Told me "these kinds of bikes are illegal now even with a brake". He was polite about it; even though it was an asshole thing to do. I kept asking him when this law was passed and how they planned on dealing with Williamsburg. He snickered and said "We went around to bars and loft buildings last night, cutting them down". There ya have it. The NYPD's recent anti-bicycle rampage has come to fruition. I had to walk 12 blocks to my office this morning. Now I have a slip and a court date. The cop didn't even care that I had just bought a bell too! What the hell is wrong with NYC? Must be April fools... suckers!

Wanksta Track

April fools from Urbanvelo.org! After learning of Kanye West’s purchase of a Cinelli Vigorelli, rival rap star 50 Cent went on a mission to outdo his nemesis. He didn’t just want a bike of his own, Fiddy wanted his own bike. His search brought him to California where he connected with Money S, another former hustler who now owns a bike company. Though Money S started out in a VW bus and Fiddy rolled out of Queens in a white Benz, both came up with a competitive ego and a common love of money. The Wanksta’s gold-plated frame, fork, hubs and rims are complimented by black decals designed by Fiddy himself. The nine bullet holes across the top tube are both a reminder of the attempt on his life (in May of 2000) and a warning to would be bike thieves. The custom Beretta 9mm (included) clicks into a proprietary quick-release bottle cage mount, which is quite possibly the first of its kind.

As of press time, there’s an unsubstantiated rumor circulating that Fat Joe, Jadakiss and Lil Wayne have entered into negotiations with Trek, Cannondale and Bianchi.
