Back on the OBX

Back in North Carolina, my dad goes fishing on the OBX just about every weekend with his buddies. They usually surf fish and catch everything from Stripers to Flounder. Well, my mom sent me this Youtube video that my dad's friend Ryan made of all them fishing last weekend. It's a great feeling to be back on an isolated island once and a while. All the hustle and bustle's hours away. Looks like they caught a lot of great fish, mostly Red Drum.

Last month I got a new wheelset and decided to go with a 15 rear cog
instead of my normal 16. The 15t would create 15 [thanks Pixel] wear
spots from skids, whereas the 16 creates one. All seemed fine. I ran
this ratio during Monstertrack and everyday on my daily commute.

So after I switched my clips and cleats out for pedals and toeclips,
I noticed it was nearly impossible to skid. I really had to stomp hard
to skid. I remembered a gear calculator that I had used a year or so
ago and re-visited this helpful tool.

For NYC, Boston and other relatively flat cities, +/- 75" is recommended.
You'll find it's easier to take off at lights, skid and yes, do wheelies.
Overall, it just makes it an easier ride.

This is what my 46:15 gave me:

If I were a Dubstep DJ

I would be this guy. Distance is known for his "metal dubstep" - hardcore breaks and guitar riffs in his deep and dark drops. This guy's Rinse mixes are filled with aching breaks and Acacia Strain-esque gnarly riffs. [I wonder if he composes in G as well]... Check out this CD, it's epic. "Traffic" will open up a pit anywhere.

Wilson Industries AF1 Track Bike

Sometimes, excess can be a good thing. Wilson Brothers fabricated this one-of-a-kind track bike for the AF1 25th anniversary exhibit in London on the famous Dover Street Market. I will give them ups on the nice and clean lines, but come on! Laser etched toestraps? I retract my previous statements about excess... This'll be ranked up there with those $2,000 AF1s that went on sale a few weeks ago. No one will ever ride this puppy, it'll just site somewhere, on a rack with MR16's focused on it...
